The pilot in this crash did extremely well to hold the plane steady at the end. I doubt I would have the presence of mind not to try to jerk the plane away from / around the trees. Both pilots obviously made mistakes, but man, sometimes it's better to just clip the tree and hit the ground than risk stalling too low.
